Paver Patio Installation in Roanoke, VA
A Roanoke family wanted to turn an unused, sloped section of their backyard into a comfortable outdoor living area for entertaining. We designed and installed a spacious paver patio built to handle Virginia weather for decades.
Before

The Challenge
The existing backyard had a patchy lawn on a gentle slope that stayed muddy after rain and offered no defined space for seating or a grill. The homeowners wanted a level, low-maintenance patio that matched the character of their home and drained properly away from the foundation.
Our Process
Design & Layout
We met on-site to plan the patio size, shape, and paver pattern, then marked the layout and confirmed drainage direction away from the house.
Excavation & Grading
We excavated the area and established the correct slope so water sheds off the surface instead of pooling.
Base Preparation
A compacted gravel base topped with leveling sand was installed in lifts to prevent future settling and shifting.
Paver Installation
Pavers were laid in the chosen pattern, cut cleanly along the edges, and locked in with edge restraints.
Finishing
Polymeric sand was swept into the joints and compacted to lock everything together and resist weeds.
Materials Used
The Result
The finished patio gave the family a clean, usable outdoor room for dining and relaxing. The proper base and drainage mean the surface stays level and dry, and the pavers will hold up beautifully for years with minimal upkeep.
